With the addition of Emeka Okafor in exchange for Tyson Chandler, the New Orleans Hornets should not be just in the playoff but deep in the play off. Easier said than done. Last season's first round exit, the Nuggets showed how to beat this team, stop Chris Paul. Plain and simple. The lifeblood that keeps the Hornets play streaming alive is CP3. In being harrased by the Nuggets defense (particularly the bigger and pesky Dahntay Jones), Byron Scott, failed to provide a second option for directing his team's offense. With CP3 constantly hounded and abused physically by the nuggets defense, it was clear that the lack of depth in the point position doomed the Hornets Emeka Okafor may have strenghtened their frontcourt, but the backcourt remains in question. That may have changed with the rookie Darren Collison. He may yet be an answer to such ploy. Play both (though your sacrifycing height), offset it with speed, and keep Paul from burning all the energy, dribbling the length of the court, and orchestrating the offense 99% of the time. But the key here is a player in the mold of a Hedo Torkuglu or a Scottie Pippen, forward -guard combo that can make plays on their own, thus somewhat relieving much of the pressure on CP3. Before the Hornest nest get disturbed, Byron Scott must demonstrate a new look in offense, plays that will not involved the franchise player in CP3. Byron Scott must show adaptability in situtations where the opposing team has a defender that has the build and the speed to lock CP3 (or at least try to). Otherwise the coach might find out how much it hurts to stung by the Hornets.
